Reiki, stress and anxiety.

I have a Reiki practise here in Kilsyth and the main reason people come for Reiki is for help with stress and anxiety. It seems that modern life is faster and faster and people are more and more busy, with increasingly heavy workloads. The problem with this is that many people are just not taking enough time to relax and de-stress. Clients have told me of how they go to bed exhausted and with so many problems in their head that they either can’t sleep or have a broken sleep. This results in the nervous system becoming overburdened and the mind having no space to get rid of worry and clutter. This can all result in feelings of stress and anxiety.

Reiki is such a wonderful therapy for treating stress and anxiety as it induces such a deep state of relaxation and calm. In this deep place the mind and body gets a chance to heal itself and let go. Some clients tell me that their one hour Reiki a week is the only time that their minds actually stop. The other wonderful thing is that by creating space and calmness in over busy minds people often see their lives from different perspectives. They seem more able to take a wider; bird’s eye view and can sometimes see what they can do to change stressful situations in their lives.

In 2012-2013 I had the privilege of delivering Reiki once a week to people in a drug recovery project run by Phoenix Futures. I gave everyone who had Reiki an anonymous customer satisfaction survey and the results were quite overwhelming. On a scale of 0-10 people were asked to rate how satisfied they were with their Reiki treatment and 87% of them rated it a 9 or 10. A staggering 85% of people said it helped to reduce stress and worry. Having delivered over 130 Reiki sessions in this centre and analysed the survey results I have come to the conclusion that Reiki is definitely an effective therapy for helping stress and anxiety.

“I have been receiving Reiki for 3 or 4 weeks now and I am

a great believer in its therapeutic value as it has helped me to establish a better sleeping pattern as well as relaxing me totally.” John.
